The Swing Shift Shuffle is a radio program of swing, big band, jazz, boogie woogie and other popular music from the 1930's and 40's that airs every Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. (US Central Time) on WEVL 89.9 FM in Memphis, Tennessee, with a live webcast at wevl.org. In addition to the radio show, this blog is dedicated to all aspects of the Swing Era, including art, automobiles, cartoons, comics, history, movies, music, news, science, technology, and anything else that happened during that time. The World's Only Flying B-29 Superfortress At Millington This Weekend

This weekend, the Commemorative Air Force presents "FIFI," the world's only flying B-29 Superfortress, at the Millington Regional Airport, 1115 Hornet Avenue, in Millington.  Accompanying this heavy bomber will be a P-51 Mustang fighter and an SBD Dauntless dive bomber.  Rides on all three aircraft will be available Friday, August 5 through Sunday, August 7, but remember that airplane fuel is expensive.  Rides on the B-29 go from  $695 up to $1495 for the "bombardier" (i.e. nose) position.  Rides on the P-51 and SBD start at $1495 and $745 respectively.  Ticket information available here.  Tours of the aircraft are available for $10.
