Sunrise Serenade: Loch Lomand & R.I.P. Robert L. "The Duke of Earle" Campbell

This morning's Sunrise Serenade was particularly appropriate.  Last Thursday, September 28, 2023, Robert L. Campbell, a/k/a "The Duke of Earle (Arkansas)" passed away.  Robert was the long time host of Strands of the Celtic Knot" on WEVL FM 89.9.  It was through Robert's show that I first encountered WEVL and began my long association with the station and him.  "Loch Lomand" is a parting song by a Scottish soldier who faces death, and will thus take the "low road" back to Scotland, to his compatriot, a fellow Scot, who will be spared, and thus take the "high road" home.  In this wonderful meeting of traditional Celtic music and Swing, and in honor of Robert Campbell, here is Fats Waller and his version of "Loch Lomand."  Enjoy the video from YouTube.
