World War II Naval Dazzle & Camouflage

The Make: blog posted not one, but two interesting items about naval camouflage.  The first addressed "dazzle camouflage" which was intended not to hide the ship, but instead confuse optically operated rangefinders regarding the vessel's type, size, speed and heading.

The second posting featured a warship that eluded the Japanese fleet in 1942 camouflaged as tropical island.
