Newman's Own Navy Beans?

I have already posted a couple of entries about famous movie stars who are more associated with the 1950's than the Swing Era, but about whom I found some interesting information related to the 1940's (see posts about Marilyn Monroe and James Dean).  Here is another example.  Retronaut posted these photos of Paul Newman from his service in the U.S. Navy around 1943.
