Here is yet another example of technology that many people might consider relatively recent, but which is actually over 70 years old.  I remember seeing coin operated blood pressure machines even when I was a kid, but I never realized until I saw this article from the December 1941 issue of Mechanix Illustrated, posted on Modern Mechanix, that such machines were in use at that time.
