Over 25 years before Chevy and Ford produced the El Camino and Ranchero respectively, Studebaker created the Coupe Express by combining the front end of a passenger car with the bed of a truck.
The Jalopy Journal has a
brief history of the model. I have seen one or two Coupe Expresses, and they are impressive, not to mention rare, vehicles.
