This animated short is a George Pal "Puppetoon" in Technicolor from 1947. Mr. Pal's work apparently influenced Messrs. Rankin and Bass, who made all those great animated Christmas specials in the 1960's (Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer, etc.). In addition to the great animation, which seems pretty advanced for the late 1940's, the music has a very rich, almost feature film style of arrangement.
